PG near Christ University and Oxford College: a student’s guide to South Bangalore

Where the campuses are, what students actually need from a PG, sharing types and prices, the rules to read first, and which Vaikuntum branch suits which campus.

Key takeaways
  • Christ University’s Central campus is on Hosur Road opposite the Dairy Circle flyover; its Bannerghatta Road campus is at Hulimavu; Oxford College of Engineering is in Bommanahalli.
  • Sai Ram PG in Koramangala 8th Block is ~2.5 km from Christ Central campus; Vaikuntum Elite Co-Living, Bommanahalli is ~1 km from Oxford College and ~4.5 km from Christ.
  • A student PG should be judged on study space, Wi-Fi, meal timings, laundry and visitor rules, not on the photo of the lobby.
  • Four to seven share at Bommanahalli costs ₹6,500–8,000 all-inclusive; four share at Sai Ram is ₹7,000; both are monthly stays with no brokerage.

A good PG near Christ University or Oxford College is one you can walk or ride to in under 20 minutes, that feeds you on a timetable that matches your classes, and that has a desk and Wi-Fi fast enough for a 2 am submission. South Bangalore has plenty of beds for students; the trick is knowing where the campuses actually are, what the rules will be, and how to keep the monthly number predictable. This guide covers all three and tells you which Vaikuntum branch suits which campus.

Where the campuses actually are

Christ (Deemed to be University) has four Bengaluru campuses, and students mix them up when searching. The Central campus is on the Hosur Road extension, opposite the Bangalore Dairy Circle flyover, inside the 100-acre Dharmaram campus. The Bannerghatta Road campus at Hulimavu opened in 2016 and houses liberal arts, business and management, economics and English. The Kengeri campus on the Mysuru road handles engineering and architecture, and the Yeshwanthpur campus opened in 2022 in the north. The university had over 30,000 students in its latest count and was ranked 63rd among Indian universities in NIRF 2025, which is why it pays to look early around Dairy Circle, Koramangala and Madiwala before a new academic year.

The Oxford College of Engineering is in Bommanahalli on Hosur Road, PIN 560068, next to the Oxford Dental College. It is on the Yellow Line corridor: Bommanahalli and Hongasandra stations are both within walking distance of the college area.

What students actually need from a student PG in Bangalore

  • A desk and a chair. Many rooms have beds and a cupboard and nothing to work on. Ask for laptop tables or a dedicated working zone.
  • Internet that survives the whole floor streaming at 9 pm. Ask for the speed in numbers, not “high speed”.
  • Meal timings that match classes. If breakfast ends at 9 and your first lecture is at 8, you will skip it every day. Ask whether the kitchen keeps a plate for late students.
  • Laundry on site. A washing machine in the building saves money and a weekly trip.
  • Clear visitor and parents’ rules. Parents want to see where you live; ask whether daytime visits are allowed and how.
  • Silence hours. You want them enforced during exam week and relaxed enough not to feel like a hostel.
  • Power backup. Submissions do not wait for BESCOM.

Sharing types and what they cost

Students usually land in three, four or larger sharing because the rent is lower and the company is useful. Here is what the two Vaikuntum branches nearest the campuses charge, per person per month, all-inclusive with meals.

SharingVaikuntum Elite Co-Living, Bommanahalli (men, women, couples)Sai Ram PG, Koramangala 8th Block (gents)
Single room₹25,000 (XL with TV ₹27,000)₹16,000
Two share₹12,500₹9,999
Three share₹10,000₹8,000
Four share₹8,000₹7,000
Five to seven share₹7,500 / ₹7,000 / ₹6,500—

At Bommanahalli the one-time advance is ₹5,000 for single to three share and ₹4,000 for four to seven share, there is no monthly security deposit, and a ₹2,500 maintenance charge is taken when you vacate. Both branches are monthly stays with 30 days’ notice and no brokerage. For a PG with food for students, that matters: three meals a day are inside the number, so your parents are not funding a second food bill.

Rules students should read before booking

Every managed PG has rules; the good ones publish them. At Vaikuntum Elite Co-Living, Bommanahalli the ones students ask about most are: silence hours 10:30 PM to 6 AM (₹500 fine); visitors only with prior permission, and parents may visit in the daytime with approval; a guest stay is ₹500 a day with approval, and an unauthorised overnight guest is a ₹1,000 fine; no alcohol (₹500, repeat means eviction); smoking only in the smoking zone; no food or utensils in rooms; no heaters or other high-power appliances; and you may enter only your own room, with men not allowed in women’s rooms and vice versa. Rent is due by the 5th with a ₹200-a-day late fee, so set a reminder before the money reaches you from home. Read the list once, decide whether you can live with it, and then it stops being a surprise.

It is a value gents branch, from ₹7,000 in four share. As a PG near Koramangala for students it also puts the city’s best cafés and weekend options within walking distance.

Oxford College of Engineering (Bommanahalli): Vaikuntum Elite Co-Living is about 1 km from the college and a 3-minute walk from Hongasandra Metro. It is new, premium and takes men, women and couples, with a dedicated working zone, 1 Gbps internet, 24-hour generator backup, ten washing machines, RO water on every floor and a rooftop gym and box-cricket arena. Before move-in day

Carry a government photo ID and your college ID or admission letter; verification is quick when both are ready. Bedding, a mattress and a cupboard are provided at both branches, so pack clothes, a towel, chargers and medicines, not furniture.
